Abstract “The Wake Up Calls, the Changing Face of the Music and Entertainment Industry, Types Of Entry and Employment 2006-2011” panel will cover what changes have taken place in the music and entertainment industry in the past ten years – the digital transmission of music, film, video and other forms of intellectual property, new technology, the Internet, media consolidation, federal and state legislation and common law effecting music and entertainment, and the success of new business models. Specific topics to be discussed will include the Internet-driven successes of Jib Jab, Arctic Monkeys, MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Channel 101, as well as new issues involving video, audio and domain mashups, and more. The panel will also discuss traditional and new types of employment available and their prospects over the next five years.
